Incredibly talented, very dedicated Doctor who really cares to make a difference in the patients life.  I had a huge lesion on my face and after he removed the stitches it just took a couple of weeks and you could hardly see where it was done. The stitches were so small that he so skillfully put in with his Physician Assistant.  He goes out of his way to make sure there is no scar when removing cancer lesions.  I was so satisfied with everything he did and especially his positive and friendly attitude.

Over 40+ years in the California sunshine, I’ve involuntarily acquired a growing “collection” of skin lesions — arm, nose, scalp, etc. When I was referred here about a rash, for which I was prescribed something, they spotted some stuff on my scalp and froze it off — but something they identified on my nose required more than a  freeze. The biopsy result required in-office surgery; fortunately, the lesion proved to be minor. But most fortunate is that my referral brought me here. I have been to quite a few specialists over the years for various reasons, and I can easily say this is among the best care I’ve ever received. Comprehensive, caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, and never less than a good attitude. I’ve been here maybe five times in the past year and a half, and I always walk out feeling I’ve received the best possible care from Dr. Lin and Seung, two very fine dermatologists.

Office is super nice. People who work the front desk are the most patient people on the planet! Angel and I think her name was Natasha were super professional on the phone when a customer was literally screaming at them on the other end. I’ve seen a lot of front office people be rude and uncaring but they took care of things.

Sunny did some laser stuff on my mom’s nose. She seems to really know what she’s doing. She’s had this mole on her nose for a long time and is very delicate to not do any damage to it while taking it off.

I’ve also taken my grandma to have skin cancer removed from her back at the Santa Clarita office. Dr. Lin and Sunny did a very thorough and neat job. About a year later when my mom went to get a mole checked, Dr. Lin asked to see my grandma’s back since he remembered her procedure. Thank GOD he did; he wanted to see her ASAP. He didn’t have to check her at all, she had just gone with my mom to the appointment. He remembered her. That’s quality care.

“When my 90 year old mother was diagnosed with a melanoma 3 skin cancer, and her regular doctor told her she would have to spend 3 days in the hospital, we went for a second opinion from Dr. Lin… he looked at it and said he could do it in outpatient his surgery center. DONE, in and out the door in 2 hours. It is 3 months later … she is fine. She doesn’t trust doctors, and Dr. Lin is TOPS on her list! (mine too!)”

Information about Under Eye Treatments

The under eye area is a very challenging area to treat. In addition to the technical difficulties in treating this area due
to anatomic and structural considerations, the aesthetics of the eye area can be difficult to understand and agree
upon. I recommend a close dialogue and open communication between the provider and the patient. The provider
should accurately describe what results the provider can likely deliver and the patient can communicate what goals
the patient is trying to achieve. Fortunately, with dermal fillers, preliminary results are seen immediately, and real time
feedback is encouraged during and immediately after the treatment.

Risks and Benefits of Treatment

The risks and benefits of treatment should be thoroughly discussed. The most common side effects seen after dermal
filler injection are bruising and swelling. An estimated 4% of patients experience bruising after dermal filler injection. I
recommend postponing treatment if a patient has an important public event within two weeks after treatment date.
Treatment with a cannula decreases the chance of bruising and swelling, but these side effects may still occur.

Agnes RF

An additional option is Agnes RF. This procedure can shrink the fat pads under the eyes and tighten the skin. This
treatment is recommended for larger fat pads. First, the Agnes RF treatment is performed to shrink the fat pads and
fillers are used to touch up the remaining imperfections three to four months later.

Read the inforgraphics below to know more about Agnes RF.

Causes of Dark Under Eye Circles

The three common causes of dark under eye circles are shadowing, skin pigmentation, and fluid retention.

  • The shadowing is caused by light being blocked by adjacent tissue. This is typically due to the fact that there is volume loss under the eye that leads to a depression. The depressed area is lower than the adjacent tissue and looks darker because of shadows from the higher adjacent tissue. This cause of dark under eye circles is best treated with dermal fillers. The results are consistently very good and reproducible.

  • Dark circles caused by skin pigmentation can be due to melanin or hemosiderin. Melanin is a normal pigment that is produced by melanocytes in the skin. Overproduction of melanin can be caused byirritation, hormonal, or genetic factors. If the skin pigmentation is caused by melanin, treatment with a lightening cream containing ingredients such as arbutin and hydroquinone can improve the appearance of the dark circles. Hemosiderin is a normal by-product of blood cells. If blood or fluid is retained in the under eye area for a long time, blood cells may leak into the skin and hemosiderin may  be deposited. Creams that help shrink or stabilize blood vessels and prevent bruising may help prevent hemosiderin deposition. It is easy to distinguish between skin pigmentation and shadowing by gently pulling down on the under eye skin. If it is the skin that has the pigmentation, the dark skin will be pulled down.

  • Fluid retention is also a common cause of dark circles under the eyes. Most of us have experience with waking up in the morning with puffy eyes. Lack of sleep, too much salt, allergies, and poor health can lead to fluid retention under the eyes. Depending on the cause, ice packs, anti-histamines, dietary changes, and life style changes can help with fluid retention.
