Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriasis is actually more of an immune condition rather than a primary skin condition. Many patients with psoriasis have other medical conditions caused by the inflammation from the abnormal immune condition. Arthritis is one of them, and can affect up to 30% of psoriasis patients. On average, symptoms of psoriatic arthritis don't appear until 10 years after the psoriasis lesions occur on the skin. Psoriatic arthritis typically presents itself with pain, stiffness, and swelling around the joints. Early treatment could prevent permanent damage to the joints.
